Paul Maillardet
DIRECTOR, TRUTH UNLOCKED LIMITED
Paul Maillardet — Statement Analysis Expert & Trainer

Paul Maillardet is one of the leading practitioners in statement analysis and deception detection.
As Director of Truth Unlocked, he trains analysts worldwide and works on active and cold criminal cases, helping investigators uncover what the words really reveal.

Paul trained under Peter Hyatt, one of the foremost authorities in statement analysis globally, who spent decades teaching these techniques to the FBI and law enforcement agencies across the world. When Peter stepped back from conducting training, Paul took over — and has since built a worldwide community of analysts, running monthly live analysis sessions where real cases are examined in detail, and mentoring students from beginner level through to advanced certification.

His students include law enforcement officers, crime analysts, journalists, podcasters, therapists, and true crime enthusiasts from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Poland, Denmark, and beyond. Many have gone on to apply their training professionally — including one student who achieved recognition as a court expert in psycholinguistic profiling on the strength of her training with Paul.

Paul works closely with investigative journalists and true crime podcasters, providing expert analysis of suspect statements, 911 calls, witness accounts, and public appeals. His analysis has contributed to efforts to reopen criminal cases — uncovering deception in evidence that had gone unexamined for years.

He is also a linguistics expert for the Cold Case Investigative Research Institute (CCIRI) in the United States, contributing forensic statement analysis to long-standing unsolved cases. His broader professional background includes investigating suspected financial improprieties in corporate crime, typically involving sums of £200 million and above.

Paul is a proud member of the International Association of Forensic Linguists (IAFFL) and the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA).
