Advanced Statement Analysis Course

Become the analyst others measure their work against...

Advanced Analyst Course landscape.png

You finished the course and can work a statement now ~ you see things in a page of text that most people will read straight past, and you're right far more often than you're wrong.

So here is the uncomfortable part. It gets harder from here, and your training is the reason.

A beginner reads a statement and finds three things. You read the same statement and find fifteen. But fifteen findings do not make you five times more certain than three did. They make you less certain — because now somebody has to decide which of those fifteen would survive being challenged, and which are merely interesting.

That somebody is you.

So think back across everything you have ever been taught about this work. How much of it was about finding things?

And how much of it was about deciding which findings to throw away?

If the second number is close to zero, that is not a gap in you. It is simply the next course — and it was always going to be, because you cannot learn to weigh findings until finding them has become second nature.

What you have now is the ability to see. What this adds is the ability to judge. The first without the second is a skill you cannot yet use in the room where it actually counts.

The difference, in one example

Two analysts read the same statement. Both mark the same eleven anomalies. One produces a list. The other produces a conclusion that holds when a hostile reader tries to pull it apart ~ because they knew which three of those eleven carried weight, and which eight were noise.

That difference is not talent. It is training. This Course will provide you with exactly that training.

The Advanced Statement Analysis Course

This is Peter Hyatt's own advanced programme ~ the level he taught when he was teaching people who already knew what they were doing.

It exists for one purpose: to take an analyst who is competent and make them an analyst who is trusted. Not by adding more principles, but by teaching you to weigh the ones you already have.

What changes at this level

  • Statements that fight back. Longer, messier, more contradictory ~ these are types of cases you will encounter in real life, specifically chosen to test analysts who are already good.

  • Formal submissions, assessed against a standard. Not a checklist. A standard — the one Peter set, and the one your work will be measured against long after this course.

  • Clusters and convergence. How several small findings become one position that holds.

  • The discipline of the considered conclusion. Including the courage to say, on the record, that the evidence will not carry one.

This is Peter Hyatt's material, taught at the level he built it for. It is among the last of his advanced work still being delivered as he wrote it, and nothing has been softened to make it easier.

Paul Maillardet, who trained under Peter and was asked to continue his work, assesses every submission personally, and teaches it today. Where the field has moved on since Peter wrote it, Paul says so — openly, with the evidence, in front of you. That was Peter's standard before it was Paul's.

Who it is for ?

This is for analysts who aspire to achieve the highest level in the discipline of statement analysis ~ who through this training understand and apply careful and meticulous analysis at the highest standard, who other analysts will read and measure themselves against. This is built for investigators requiring analysis which can survive a courtroom. Professionals who would rather be corrected in private than exposed in public.

You will need the minimum of the Complete Statement Analysis Course behind you, or equivalent training elsewhere.

We highly recommend taking the Language Intelligence Practitioner Course (LIP Course), for anyone who has taken an initial course before they move onto the Advanced Course ~ the LIP course takes all of the ingredients you've learned in before and shows you how to apply them carefully and correctly with personal feedback and guidance over ten curated cases.

We recommend these not because we are gatekeeping, but because weighing findings at this level only makes sense once finding them is second nature.

What You Will Leave With

The ability to look at your own marked-up statement and be able to confidently say, with reasons, which findings you would stake a conclusion on and which you would not. This is the ultimate ceiling in statement analysis proficiency, by the end of the course you will have learned the difference between spotting principles and being able to layer carefully crafted and critically sound analytical conclusions that are the benchmark of analysis mastery.

Very few analysts can do that. It is the whole difference.
